Press Release: West Orchards set to send bears over the edge |
|
Kids from Coventry are set to raise money for a children’s charity – by sending their best loved cuddly toys on a fur-raising adventure! West Orchards Shopping Centre in the city centre is holding a ‘bears in the air’ event on Sunday, January 31, which will see teddy bears take a zip wire ride from one car parking level to another. At their highest, the brave bears will be more than 25 metres in the air just beneath the centre’s famous domed glass roof. People can download sponsorship forms now and register for the event at www.westorchards.co.uk with the aim of raising over £1,000 for the NSPCC. They can also pick them up from the centre’s management suite on level 5. The event has already received strong support from a variety of local businesses including the Coventry Telegraph, Touch FM, Parenthesis, Advent Communications, JB Displays and Inpress Images. Andy Talbot, West Orchards manager, said: “We have already had great backing from the local business community – that means every penny we raise will go straight to charity. “Cathy Tennant, our administration manager here, came up with the idea. We wanted to do something quirky to raise money for the NSPCC and wanted to involved local children in some way. “This idea ticked all those boxes – to our knowledge this type of thing has never been done before! “It should be great fun and it would be great if children – with the guidance of their parents – started to download the forms now and begin fundraising. “Once again, we want to thank everyone who has supported us already and we look forward to a great event that should provide fun for all the family at the same time as raising money for a very worthy cause.”
