Press Release: WRIGHT HASSALL REGENCY RUN ‘BEST IN THE MIDLANDS’

The Wright Hassall Regency Run has been named the best 10k run in the West Midlands by the country’s top running magazine.

The run, which will take place for the sixth year running on Sunday April 11, was voted 41st in a Runner’s World list of the 50 best runs in the UK – making it the sixth best 10k run in the country.

The list was decided by readers of the magazine who voted on aspects such as organisation, scenery, atmosphere and whether they would do it again.

And the run received more recognition in February, after it was also listed second in a ‘Top 10 10k runs’ article by the Daily Telegraph.

The run, which starts at Newbold Terrace East and finishes in Mill Gardens, received a 91 per cent overall rating, while 96 per cent said they would run it again. 

Race organiser Russell Hall said: “Everyone involved in the run has worked very hard to make it a great occasion for serious and casual runners, and being rated so highly is a credit to everyone.

“The run has come a long way in six years and it’s now a major event not only for Leamington but for people from across the region.

“This year we’ve already had 1,400 entries out of a possible 2,000 – which is up around 20 per cent on this time last year.

“A lot of people who ran last year have signed up again and I think that’s not just testament to the course, but to the hard work by volunteers to provide a well-organised, safe environment for the runners.”
