Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul, the old city center, is closed to vehicle traffic as of 7th of June 2010. It's now a pedestrian area like Istiklal street at Taksim Square. No regular vehicles, including buses and cars, will be admitted at the Hippodrome area except for the Government vehicles. With this new plan the are will be much more pleasant for pedestrians to walk around and visit the ancient sites of the city.
