A West Midlands accountancy firm’s charity fundraising for the year raced through the £11,000 barrier when it held a successful go-karting event. Spencer Gardner Dickins, based on Coventry Innovation Village on Cheetah Road in the city, held three nights of racing at Ace Karting in Nuneaton in aid of its charity of the year, Myton Hospice. Just under 100 people from across the region, all clients and associates of Spencer Gardner Dickins, got behind the wheel for the second annual event at the Hartshill go-karting track. Teams from Cranfield Business Recovery, AH Spares Limited and Levine Brothers (Home Furnishings) Limited all made it on to the top of the podium over the course of the three nights. David Thomas, partner at Spencer Gardner Dickins, said: “All three nights went really well and we’re delighted we could raise such a considerable amount of money for a great cause. “Myton Hospice receives no government funding and provides a fantastic care service and everyone at the firm has played a tremendous role in supporting the charity over the last 12 months and helped us raise £11,000. “We’re really pleased so many of our clients and associates could join us for the racing again and everyone seemed to enjoy the friendly rivalry and had fun putting their driving skills to the test. “We’ve decided to continue supporting Myton Hospice during 2011 and we’ll be doing all we can to raise even more money for the charity over the next 12 months.”
