Raleigh, N.C. (June 4, 2010) – Having a solid and affordable personal training program can make or break a gym’s customer retention and overall financial success. Michael Rattenni has devoted his career in the fitness industry to making such personal training programs available to gyms nationwide through the establishment of several personal training outsourcing companies, and his services have paid off. Rattenni, who has been in the fitness industry for more than 14 years, started his career in personal training outsourcing when he was hired to come into Brad Neste’s Gold’s Gyms. At the time, Neste owned the largest number of Gold’s Gyms in the West Coast region. Rattenni implemented personal training programs into Neste’s gyms and went on to do the same for operators such as Ron Littlebrand and his Salt Lake City chain of Gold’s Gyms. The success and profitability that Rattenni’s personal training outsourcing programs brought to these locations caught the attention of Mike Valentino, the largest Gold’s Gyms owner on the East Coast. Valentino also decided to outsource his personal training so that he could focus on his core business while increasing his net profit. Rattenni helped set up personal training programs at Valentino’s 12 Gold’s Gym locations, where he created the same fast turn-around in profit and member satisfaction as he did on the West Coast. Rattenni also consulted with Royce Pulliam and Urban Active Fitness, implementing personal training programs that helped transform Urban Active into one of the most profitable fitness chains in the nation. And thanks to working with Rattenni, Urban Active has gained the skills and knowledge to run and operate its personal training departments in-house. As a result of his long chain of success with personal training outsourcing programs, Rattenni decided to buy and build Effective Fitness Training (EFT) to manage the personal training departments exclusively for Eric Casaburi’s more than 50 Retro Fitness locations. “When I saw what Eric Casaburi was doing with Retro Fitness, I knew I had to be a part of it,” said Rattenni. “Buying EFT Group was a risk, but I knew it would pay off big and make Retro Fitness the gold standard in the industry.” Rattenni’s risk has paid off big. Since partnering with EFT, Retro Fitness has seen a steady increase in member retention and profit and become a gym others in the industry look to for inspiration. Members can pay reasonable rates for personal training and/or nutrition consulting and planning from EFT’s trained experts, giving them targeted results and contributing to their satisfaction with their Retro Fitness experience. As a result of this success, Retro Fitness has expanded its franchise nationwide and is on track to have 300 gyms in the next three years, and EFT has become the most prominent personal training company in the nation. Due to the demand and requests from other gyms to outsource their personal training departments, Rattenni started Built to Last PT. Like EFT, Built to Last takes all of the overhead costs that go into running a personal training department away from the gym and in turns provides them with revenue. Specifically, Built to Last provides gyms with a team of qualified personal trainers who can come into a gym, set up and be ready to operate in one week. “By outsourcing their personal training department to Built To Last, gym owners increase their revenue, decrease their overhead and improve member retention by offering a high-quality service that gym members have come to expect,” said Rattenni. “They have someone to manage their personal training department 24/7, letting them focus on the other parts of their gym.” Part of what makes the programs so successful is Rattenni’s standards when it comes to selecting personal trainers. “What I realized was that people came to personal trainers not just to get fit,” said Rattenni. “They also wanted someone to talk to who could help them feel confident about their work out routine and about themselves. A trainer has to have a great personality first and foremost. You can train someone who may not be the most experienced, but you can’t teach personality.” Taking it a step further, Rattenni’s newest endeavor, Triumph Management, provides all-inclusive consulting for gyms and personal training centers. Triumph supports gym owners by managing presales and staffing, offering financial consulting, connecting the gym with the best vendors in the industry and more. “Triumph is another piece of the puzzle,” said Rattenni. “It’s just another way for me and the team I’ve built here to offer our expertise to people who love fitness and who want to become involved in the fitness industry, but need some help getting started.” To learn more about EFT, visit www.myeffectivefitness.com.
