How do you create more room for wiring within a more slimline consumer unit box? Cudis designers have come up with the answer. New for 2010, the latest CPN consumer unit has more wiring room, is no higher than the previous model and at the same time has less depth. The styling offers a choice of a plain ivory or smoked cover so the new unit is more attractive to install in a contemporary setting.
Sales director, Mike Hankins explained, “The changes are more than cosmetic. “Not only do we now have a metal insulated bus bar making the board more rigid, but we have lowered its position making more room for wiring, even when using RCBOs. We have also added three neutral bars so the board can be adapted for twin RCD or high integrity use. Each model is now fitted with a 100A main switch and two RCDs of 80 or 63 Amps.”
The interior layout of the new box is flexible. The consumer units are fully compatible with 17th Edition wiring regulations. CPN supply a full range of miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) and RCBOs (residual current breaker with overload) to meet all domestic and light commercial needs.
Mike concluded, “The simple styling will blend with most decors, especially in newer properties where the consumer unit will be open to view, so householders will appreciate them. We think that the consumer units will be attractive to electrical wholesalers because of competitive pricing and simpler stocking requirements. Electricians will love it because it is so flexible and much easier to install.”
