Press Release: Leading entrepreneur Angela Mortimer to give free recruitment seminar

One of Britain’s leading female entrepreneurs is coming to Birmingham to advise companies on hiring the best job candidates.

Angela Mortimer, co-founder of global recruitment firm Angela Mortimer PLC, will give an ‘interviewing masterclass’ on Wednesday, October 14 at Hotel du Vin in Church Street.

The aim is to help recruiters see ‘the real person’ behind a CV, before the post-recession wave of hiring begins.

Angela, who recently accepted the First Women Awards for Business Services on behalf of the group, said there were also advantages to be had from giving candidates a ‘positive’ interview and focusing on keeping a mindset sensitive to an interviewee.

“There are some very talented individuals searching for the best jobs right now, and it can be very difficult to work out what a person can offer, particularly when they have learnt to say all the right things,” she said.

“It’s about scratching beyond the surface and working out if this candidate is right for your company, and so I’ll explain ways of achieving that.

“Secondly, it’s important that interviewers give a positive impression of their company so that, even if the candidate doesn’t get the job, they leave feeling as if it would have been a great place to work.

“Word of mouth is a powerful marketing tool and if a rejected candidate goes away and tells people that despite not getting the job, the interview was great and the interviewers were lovely, it will bring in better quality candidates in future.

“By making an interview comfortable, you also get a better insight into someone’s character.

“Businesses seem to be growing again and so these are lessons which will soon be put into practice. Getting the cream of the crop now will only further enhance a firm’s growth and recovery.”

The seminar will run from 1pm-2pm, with registration beginning at 12.30pm.
