Press Release: Ladies Day at Coventry City

A leading Midlands businesswoman believes the business of football will not remain male dominated for much longer. The popularity of football among women is something which continues to grow, and while female faces have become a familiar site on the terraces, the trend has not yet been reflected in boardrooms up and down the country. But that is set to change according to lifelong Coventry City fan Jo Cameron who is perhaps best known for appearing in the boardroom of Lord Alan Sugar on the BBC’s Apprentice.Jo, who runs the Jo Cameron High Performance Academy and the Network of Aspiring Women from her Leamington base, is attending this Saturday’s Championship clash between Coventry and Hull City at the Ricoh Arena as part of Coventry City’s Ladies Day.She will be appearing alongside fellow former Apprentice candidate - Warwickshire’s Laura Moore - to share her experiences and expertise to those in attendance.“I think the make-up of football boardrooms is definitely going to change,” said Jo.“We are seeing more and more women establishing themselves in business and that is going to be reflected in all walks of life.“The Government is also supportive of feeding more women into high level positions, so it is only a matter of time before we see changes.”Jo believes clubs are on the right track to attracting more women into the game and events like Coventry City’s Ladies Day will help to boost the popularity of the sport among women.“I think that’s what events like this are all about, encouraging women to games and breaking down some of those false perceptions about football,” she added.“I think a lot of people still have this perception that football is stuck in the dark ages, and there is still some work to do in terms of making the terraces a bit more family friendly, but the facilities these days are changing to meet the needs of female fans.”The club has unveiled a full hospitality package for ladies looking for a great day out, including stadium tours for groups of four or more, a three-course meal, padded seats for the match, a fashion exhibition and an interview with a former Sky Blues player along with two current members of the first team squad. The day is priced at £60 per person and for more information or to book call 0844 873 1883 (option four).END
