The deadline for the Jimmy Hill Tribute Appeal has been extended after the Football League requested to become involved.As a result, the appeal is being extended by a further eight weeks, until Thursday September 30, to allow the Football League and its 72 Affiliated Clubs the opportunity to donate to the fund.The Jimmy Hill Tribute Appeal aims to raise £150,000 to commission and install a statue of Hill outside the main entrance to the Ricoh Arena.The extension will also allow other companies, which have indicated a wish to contribute to the appeal, more time to follow in the footsteps of Coventry Plumbing and Heating Services which recently donated £5,000.Appeal Chairman, Kevin Heffernan said: “I have received a written request from the chairman of the Football League, Greg Clarke, to allow the Football League to participate in the appeal.“It was just the lift the Appeal Fund needed and he was grateful to Greg Clarke, Chairman of the Football League, for his endorsement and support of the Jimmy Hill Appeal.“The extension of the appeal deadline will also benefit the many football supporters clubs throughout the country who have volunteered to run events to raise funds for the appeal.”The Jimmy Hill Tribute Appeal is being supported by Coventry Building Society and anyone wishing to make a donation to the appeal can do so by cash or cheque at any of the company’s branches.Cheques made out to the Jimmy Hill Tribute Appeal can also be posted to Godiva House, Binley Business Park, Coventry, CV3 2TQ.Online bank transfers can be made to the Jimmy Hill Tribute Appeal using account number 44715278 and sort code 40-63-01.
