Press Release: Jim Gordon |
|
Jim Gordon has been promoted to managing director at Legacy Hotels and Resorts as its portfolio continues to grow.
The 44-year-old was previously group finance director which involved responsibility for finance, procurement, IT, company secretarial duties and legal matters.
Within the new management structure, Jim has been elevated to managing director to add additional roles with the property, health and safety and human resource teams now reporting directly to him.
Jim, who lives in Gloucestershire, said the structure of Legacy Hotels and Resorts’ senior team had been strengthened to meet the changing requirements of the business’s hotels yet also to accommodate the development of a separate division of the group that will focus on the turnaround and recovery of restaurants, bars and clubs.
“We want to prepare the business for the next stage of growth,” he said. “Our turnover has grown from under £1 million to £1.5 million in the last financial year and our next goal is to break through the £2 million barrier next year.
“In terms of numbers we have 12 hotels under full operation and management contracts as well as 19 associate hotels and our target is to reach 18 fully managed hotels within the next year.
“We have a reasonably strong presence in the south but we would like to acquire a management contract for a London hotel and since I’m from Scotland it would be great to manage a hotel or two in an area I am very familiar with as well.
“Staff numbers within our management contracts currently stand at around 800 so the business is certainly growing at a steady rate despite the tough financial conditions.
“I am looking forward to the extra responsibility of being managing director and it means chief executive officer Andy Townsend will have more time to focus on the development of the business.
“This is an exciting new chapter for the group as we continue to source more contracts and meet hotel, restaurant, bar and nightclub owners that we can do business with.”
Andy added: “Jim and I co-founded Legacy Hotels and Resorts in 2005 and this promotion is fully deserved.
“We share the same vision for the business and as we continue to drive the business forward despite the economic uncertainty, his appointment as managing director will mean I can devote even more time to expanding the group within different segments of the hospitality industry.”
