Press Release: Invest in a start-up business at Minerva Business Angel Network event |
|
Investing in a promising start-up or early stage business can be more attractive than saving with a bank or investing on the stock market. That is the message from business expert Tim Powell who is combining an introduction to becoming a Business Angel with two “Dragons’ Den” style events. Four businesses are set to pitch their ideas to potential investors and business angels with the hope of gaining the working capital and expertise they need to expand their business or develop their ideas. The first event on Thursday June 11 will be held at Wroxall Abbey, on Birmingham Road near Kenilworth, while the second session will be held at Warwick Business School, in Gibbet Hill Road, Coventry, on Tuesday June 23. Both events will start at midday and are expected to run for about four hours. Buffet lunches will be available for potential investors and there will also be presentations on key investment topics as well as networking opportunities. Powell heads up the Minerva Business Angel Network at the University of Warwick Science Park’s Venture Centre, on Sir William Lyons Road and assists small and medium size businesses with high-growth potential access the funding they need to fulfil their promise. He said: “Despite uncertainty about the future, there are still investment opportunities as companies look to develop new technologies and products to expand into new markets. “Obtaining funding to finance growth from traditional sources can be difficult - particularly for start-up or early stage business. “With confidence and returns in traditional forms of investment at an all time low, now is a good time to consider becoming an angel investor where the risk, but also the rewards, can be high.” Anyone interested in becoming a business angel and experienced investors who want to attend either of the ‘Want to be an Angel?’ seminars should email capital@uwsp.co.uk or call 024 7632 3122 for an information pack.
