Press Release: Ignite programme lights touch paper on Legal Clarity expansion

A Birmingham-based legal services company has just expanded into new offices and has plans to more than double in size again following significant private investment.

Legal Clarity, which was established in 2007 by brothers James and Kevin Quinn, combines legal and IT expertise to provide fixed-cost legal services to accountants and entrepreneurs.

Before establishing the company, James was a corporate solicitor and Kevin an IT programmer.

The company offers a range of online corporate and commercial legal services through its website www.legalclarity.co.uk – including a feature which allows entrepreneurs to form a company entirely online. It also offers a legal agreement drafting service and company secretarial services.

It has already proved to be a great success – attracting a range of clients, particularly from the accountancy sector – and now Legal Clarity is expanding again.

The company has received help and advice from the Ignite programme through advisors at the University of Warwick Science Park and has also obtained significant investment from the private sector.

James said: “We will be investing heavily in our web-based IT and legal systems over the coming months, bringing innovation to the legal sector. We are also looking to double our staffing levels over the next year to ten.

“At this stage, we have a range of clients and our services are proving particularly popular with accountancy practices. Our expansion will help us to provide a growing range of legal services to businesses.”

Earlier this year, the firm moved from offices in Harborne to a new HQ in Newhall Street. The business and marketing advice received through Ignite helped to guide Legal Clarity through the early stages of its growth.

The company also took full advantage of the STEP project through the University of Warwick Science Park.

It saw a Computer Science Masters graduate placed with the business for four months to work under the supervision of the technical director to develop a server activity monitoring system.

Dirk Schafer, of the University of Warwick Science Park, said: “The company has a unique offering and we are delighted to have been able to support their growth so far.

“It is great to see how James’s and Kevin’s expertise have come together to create this business and how it has expanded to this point and continues to do so.

“The Ignite programme is ideal for companies that are looking for free business and marketing advice in order to get to market as a start-up or grow from early stages.

“It benefits the company and the whole regional economy if it helps them to expand, create new jobs and wealth for the area.”
