Press Release: Hotel achieves Wales in Bloom award

A luxury hotel in Mid Wales has scooped a prestigious Merit award in the 2010 Wales in Bloom competition in association with the Royal Horticultural Society.
The Llangoed Hall Hotel in Llyswen, Brecon, was considered to be a high achiever by judges in the Hotels, Guest and Public Houses and Restaurants category.
Head gardener Grace Tobias, who is a previous prize winner, entered the hotel in the competition for the second time.
“We showed judges around our 13-acre estate as well as all the environmental projects we have underway including an organic composting system,” she said.
“We were only one point away from claiming a Silver award and we are determined to do even better next year.
“Hopefully the winter weather will be kinder to us this year and that will give us a better starting point.
“Myself and the other gardeners, John Davies and Robert Harris, are pleased our endeavours have been rewarded in the country’s premier horticultural competition because we spend countless hours making sure the gardens look their best whatever the time of year.
“Over the next 12 months we will be introducing more recycling measures and will continue to work hard to provide bright and beautiful gardens to ensure we give the best possible first impressions for our guests to the hotel and the area.”
Drayson Kohli, general manager at the Llangoed Hall Hotel, said he was proud of Grace and her dedicated team for their continuous hard work whatever the weather.
‘The gardening staff have worked above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the gateway to the hotel and the grounds are in tip-top shape,” he said.
“I am pleased they have gained public recognition for their endeavours and they are already planning the gardening schedule for next year to put them in the best possible position to win the category in 2011.”
