Press Release: Funeral Directors raise money for Mary Ann Evans Hospice

Bereaved families have the opportunity to leave their prayers and messages on a Christmas tree at a funeral directors and raise money for Mary Ann Evans Hospice in Nuneaton.
Staff at D B Devall and Son, of Nuneaton, have been busy decorating a tree in the reception of its head office in Attleborough which has recently completed a £750,000 expansion.
Over the last four years, D B Devall has raised money for Mary Ann Evans Hospice with its Lights of Love tree.
Customers have the opportunity to post their prayers and thoughts on the tree and make a donation to the hospice which is celebrating its 20th anniversary next year.
Daniel Devall, of D B Devall, said over the last four years about £3,500 had been collected for the hospice which is based at George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton.
He said: “We put the Mary Ann Evans Lights of Love tree in our reception area and we send a card to our previous families over the last 12 months explaining that we are supporting the hospice and if they wish they can write a message or prayer on a little card candle to put on the tree.
“Many people find this a comforting way of remembering their loved ones which is why it is called the Lights of Love tree.
“We then ask people to make a donation to Mary Evans Hospice if they would wish to and then we give every penny raised to the charity.
“We find that many of our clients have used the hospice’s services and this is another way for them to say thank-you for their support at a tough time in their lives.
“We work really closely with Mary Ann Evans Hospice since it is a very local charity and the tree is a fitting way of remembering relatives and friends and helping them to continue their good work.”
