Press Release: Discus-thrower statue in Istanbul |
|
The famous Discus-thrower (Discobolus) statue at the British Museum will be on display at Istanbul's Archaeological Museum between February 5th - April 4th. This marble statue is a Roman copy of a bronze original of the 5th century BC found in Hadrian's Villa at Tivoli, in Italy. It's one of the most famous images from the ancient world. If you want to see this beautiful piece of art outside of London, you should come to Istanbul until April 4th, 2010. The Archaeological Museum of Istanbul can be visited everyday except on Mondays between 09:00 - 17:00 (last entry is at 16:00). The ticket price is 10 Turkish Lira per person. |
