A micro-electronics company is going from strength to strength after securing a new £270,000 property to support its increased workload. Applied Microengineering Limited (AML), which specialises in micro nano-technology and micro-electrical mechanical systems, has just completed the purchase of unit five The Terrace at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, in Oxfordshire. AML, established in 1992, was previously based at Harwell Innovation Centre on the same site before moving into unit eight The Terrace in 2006. But the recent success of its hi-tech wafer bonding service has resulted in the company seeking out extra space to support its increased workload. Rob Santilli, chief executive officer of AML, said: “Unit five is ideal for our operations because of its proximity to our other premises at unit eight and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. “The flexibility of the building suits us as some of our BONDCENTRE operation is being moved to the ground floor of the building, which is being partly converted into a specialist clean area. “The upper floor also provides us with some much needed office and storage space.” The 1,900 sq ft office building was developed by Coventry-based construction experts Deeley Properties and the purchase completed with the help of Oxford Estate Agents & Commercial Property Consultants Kemp and Kemp. Jo Leaver, from Deeley Properties, said: “We are delighted that AML have chosen to snap up an additional property and continue their growth at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus. “This move underlines the importance for high quality commercial buildings in order for any area to attract and retain businesses. “We are certain AML will be pleased with the property and we hope the success of the company will underline the ability of businesses to thrive in the area and attract others to the site.” ENDS
