Persbericht: Coventry skydome nightclubs celebrate 10th birthday

One of Coventry’s most successful entertainment venues is celebrating its tenth birthday at the start of December.

The three nightspots at Skydome – Lava, Ignite and JJs – will be holding a special birthday party on Saturday, December 5 to commemorate a decade of trading.

The venue was unveiled in 1999 after being created on a former industrial site and has dramatically changed the city’s night-time economy.

The nightspots are now among the most popular venues in the city centre, welcoming thousands of people each week.

And, over the years, it has played host to a variety of live pop acts including Peter Andre, Blue and JLS.

John Wynne, the manager of Lava, Ignite and JJs, said a range of activities were being planned for the birthday event – adding that, with investment, each venue had stood the test of time.

He said: “It’s going to be a really special night with a great atmosphere to celebrate the Skydome’s birthday.

“Over the course of the past ten years, we have seen thousands of people come through our doors and we feel it has put Coventry on the map when it comes to night-time entertainment.

“We are in the throes of planning for the night but we just want to make it a fantastic birthday party that really befits the amount of pleasure we have given to people over the past decade.

“And, after ten years, we are offering a Skydome first as our new three for free policy is launched allowing people to move freely between JJs, Lava and Ignite and gain entry for free before 11pm. That will continue every Saturday thereafter.”

When they first opened, the clubs at Skydome were originally known as Ikon, Diva and Jumpin Jaks but have been rebranded over the course of the decade.

He added: “The venues are a decade old now but we have invested along the way to ensure that each has a fresh and vibrant feel and remain the premier nightspots in the city.

“We have made sure our music policy reflects a variety of tastes with a different style in JJs, Lava and Ignite played by some of the best DJs in the region.

“And, added to that, we have worked very closely with our staff and the police to ensure that this is one of the safest venues around.

“So it promises to be a really special birthday and we’d love to welcome as many local people as possible to celebrate with us.”
