Press Release: Coventry Transport Museum chosen as GEO meeting venue

A group of leading decision makers chose Coventry as the location for a meeting which could shape the way the Government does business.The Government Equalities Office (GEO), a central Government policy department which employs just over 100 staff, has responsibility for equality strategy and legislation within Government.Coventry Transport Museum was chosen by the group for its latest Procurement Trailblazers Group meeting which explores good practice around equalities and procurement.Ten people attended, predominantly from Government departments, as the group discussed how to influence Government policy, make links between procurement and equalities as well as wider Government policy such as the Big Society.The GEO chose Coventry as the venue due to its central location and the high quality meeting facilities at Coventry Transport Museum.Martin Reeves, Chief Executive of Coventry City Council, said: "I am pleased that the GEO held their meeting in Coventry and were able to see at first-hand the benefits of using Coventry as a great place to do private and public sector business, as well as underlining the procurement opportunities in the area."Professor Richard Tomlins, of Cohesia Ltd and Visiting Professor of Race and Diversity, Coventry University, who sits on the group said: “The group is focussed on efficiencies and equalities and we felt that meeting in the centre of England at a venue and city which wanted to showcase what it has to offer, was perfect.”ENDS
