Cleveland Native Returns for Tremont Art Walk
Cleveland native Raven Toney returns for the Tremont Art Walk on Friday, Feb. 11, at Eye Candy Gallery, where he exhibits pieces from his collection of furniture.
A furniture artist since 2008, Toney’s previous exhibits include galleries on Madison Avenue in New York City; Charleston, S.C.; Nashville and Knoxville, Tenn.
His furniture is made entirely from salvaged wood: discarded planks, flooring, stumps, limbs, even partial tree trunks. Toney takes what others throw away, literally, and crafts gorgeous, functional art.
Toney is a graduate of Cleveland State University and worked in the city both as a professional model and as a designer for May Company during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Since moving from Cleveland in the 1990s, Toney has lived in New York City, Los Angeles and Rome. In 2007, he relocated to Knoxville in order to be closer to family.
Toney is a featured artist for February’s Art Walk at Eye Candy Gallery. Artist reception is Friday, Feb. 11, 5-10 p.m., 2173 Professor Ave.
He is available during this event for live interviews and is available by appointment for phone and/or studio interviews prior to the event.
