Press Release: CW 2012 Partnership appoints new partnership assistant |
|
A basketball enthusiast has swapped his love of hoops for Olympic rings after landing a new role. Will Bastin, 23, has been named as the new partnership assistant for the Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership for the 2012 Games – the organisation responsible for maximising opportunities for the region arising from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The University of Birmingham graduate has a degree in sports and exercise sciences and he also spent a year as the university’s vice president of sport – a background he believes will stand him in good stead as he takes on his new role. He said: “For the last few years I have heard a lot about the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and this is a great opportunity for me to be involved with them. “I am looking forward to playing a part in delivering some of the benefits of the Games to people in the sub-region and spreading the Olympic message outside of London. “It is going to be quite demanding, especially when you look at the ambitious projects the partnership plan to deliver over the next few years, but I am certainly looking forward to the challenges ahead.” Bastin will assist partnership manager, Tom Clift, with planning and delivering a host of exciting plans, including the CW 2012 Partnership’s six flagship projects during the region’s countdown to 2012. Clift said: “This is an exciting time for the region as our journey to 2012 gathers pace. “There are so many 2012 inspired projects already in the pipeline for Coventry and Warwickshire, and there will be many more to come over the next few years, so we are delighted to have Will on board and we are confident he will be a valuable addition to the team.” ENDS Media enquiries: |
