Press Release: COVENTRY MAYOR BECOMES HOT DOG VENDOR AT WEST ORCHARDS |
|
The city’s top dog was only too happy to serve out the hot dogs to celebrate a new enterprise at the city’s largest shopping complex. Lord Mayor of Coventry Councillor Jack Harrison donned his apron to help dish out food to shoppers getting ready for Christmas at West Orchards. The centre has created its Fairground Attractions food stall after an outside operator was forced to close an ice-cream outlet because of the downturn in economy. Andy Talbot, manager of West Orchards, said the move had ensured two jobs had been saved as well as continuing a service to clients. “We were faced with two options – either to allow the unit to sit empty or to do something about it ourselves and launch the business. “We decided on the latter, we asked our customers what they wanted and the result is a new business in the city centre. “We are employing two people and the business has got off to a promising start. It brings some added vibrancy and choice to the Terrace Food Court. Councillor Harrison, who has been known to take his breakfast at the centre, said: “This is a great initiative by West Orchards. The centre will be at its busiest in the run up to Christmas, two people have gained employment and there is something extra on the menu.” Media enquiries: |
