Press Release: British comic royalty return to Montréal Just for Laughs Festival

This week the legendary British comic, John Cleese, returns to Montréal as one of the headliners of the 27^th edition of the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. Best known for his long and fruitful association with Monty Python and the ever-popular TV sitcom Fawlty Towers, Cleese will play host at the Britcom Videotron Gala in Montréal on Wednesday 22^nd July.

The Gala event, dedicated to the UK’s finest stand-up comedians will feature performances from Jimmy Carr, Ross Noble, Mark Watson, Danny Bhoy, Gina Yashere and Idiots of Ants.

Alongside the celebrated British talent, this year’s festival line-up includes other international comedy legends including Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Cosby, Lewis Black and Martin Short.

Since exploding onto the scene in 1983, the Just For Laughs Festival, held each July in Montréal, has become the largest festival of its kind in the world and this year’s offering won’t disappoint those who like a good laugh. With over 1,600 shows, including more than 1,250 free performances, the festival attracts over two million visitors each year and is then broadcast to millions of faithful fans around the world.
