Angelique Kerber displaces Serena Williams from top spot in the WTA rankings

Angelique Kerber of Germany has displaced Serena Williams from top spot in the WTA rankings Monday despite her fourth-round exit from Indian Wells.

29 year old Kerber took the number one spot as former World Number one and multiple grandslam winner, Serena williams missed the indian Wells tournament due to injury.

Elena Vesnina, 30, of Russia, who eliminated Kerber in the fourth round, moved up to 13th in the rankings, her best ever placing.
